Mitsui Plastics offers a line of high-performance C5 and C5/C9 hydrocarbon tackifier resins engineered to deliver superior adhesion and broad polymer compatibility. Produced from highly purified C5 and C9 monomers in Japanese and Thai facilities, these resins exhibit excellent thermal stability, low odor, and customizable properties ideal for pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs), sealants, coatings, and more. With a balanced aliphatic/aromatic composition giving medium polarity, our tackifiers are compatible with a wide range of base polymers (e.g. SIS, SBS, EVA, natural rubber) and perform reliably even in demanding industrial and consumer applications.

Major Applications & Markets

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Tapes & Labels
C5/C9 Resins are widely used as the primary tackifier in PSA formulations for packaging tapes, adhesive labels, and decals. It provides aggressive initial tack and long-lasting adhesion.
Hygiene & Personal Care Adhesives
Hot-melt adhesives in diapers, sanitary products, and other hygiene items often incorporate C5 resins to achieve the required balance of tack and cohesion.
Packaging & Assembly Hot-Melts
Many case and carton sealing adhesives use C5/C9 resins as a tackifier to improve adhesion to cardboard and plastics. DX-series grades offer improved thermal stability for these applications.
Automotive & Rubber Compounding
C5/C9 resins find use in specialty adhesives and rubber compounding as tackifiers. Small dosages improve tackiness of uncured rubber without affecting cured properties.
