Mitsui Plastics, Inc. was established in 1988. As a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. (USA), Inc., Mitsui Plastics, Inc. serves the plastics and chemical markets as part of the global Mitsui network

For more than 30 years, we have served as a prominent and differentiated distributor to the plastics and chemical industries worldwide as part of the international network created by Mitsui & Co., Ltd., one of the world’s most comprehensive trading, investment and service companies.

    Nao Kawamura became President & Chief Executive Officer in April 2024.

    Nao’s career with Mitsui began in 1995 at Mitsui & Co., Ltd. With extensive international experience in Indonesia, Poland and the USA, Nao has made significant contributions to the business related to plastics polymers, inorganic chemicals, synthetic rubbers and some other materials all over the world.

    A notable highlight of Nao’s career was the five-year tenure as Executive Officer and Vice President at Denka Performance Elastomer in Louisiana, USA. During this period, he not only led the company to new heights but also gained invaluable insights into the management practices of American enterprises. This role underscored his leadership capabilities and strategic vision, driving significant growth and innovation within the company.

    In addition to these professional experiences, Nao has furthered his expertise by completing the General Management Program at Harvard Business School. This prestigious program has equipped him with advanced management skills and a comprehensive understanding of global business strategies.

    Nao’s journey reflects a commitment to excellence and a passion for the plastic industry, marked by a track record of successful international assignments, leadership roles, and continuous professional development.

    本役職就任前、日本、インドネシア、ポーランド、米国にて三井物産の合成樹脂や無機化学品に関わる様々な製品の販売や、関連事業の事業買収に加え、米国ルイジアナ州に所在する合成ゴム製造合弁会社では副社長として工場経営を行うなど非常に幅広い経験を有しています。

    三井物産での30年の経験に加え、ボストンのハーバードビジネススクールではGeneral Management Programコースを卒業しMPIの変革に挑戦しています。

    Executive Vice President & COO

    David Matsushita became Chief Operating Officer in 2016 and is in charge of overseeing and managing Mitsui Plastics’ daily business operations and investment opportunities.

    Before achieving this position, he held numerous roles in various Mitsui departments and offices throughout the United States and Canada. He has oversight of a diverse portfolio of industrial materials, including inorganic chemicals, automotive materials, elastomers, fine chemicals and polymeric materials.

    David began his 35+ year career at Mitsui Calgary upon receiving his Bachelor of Science in Geology & Economics from the University of Toronto, and later continued his education at Northwestern University Business School in Chicago.

    Sean Helak assumed the role of General Manager in 2015 and currently oversees the Functional Materials and Packaging Divisions, where he manages the daily business operations and ensures future growth of these business units.

    Sean’s career with Mitsui began in 2007 in Mitsui Plastics’ New York office, where he managed a product portfolio of engineered resins. Since then, he has managed different divisions within the company, diversifying his portfolio to include polymer additives and modifiers, customer compounds and masterbatches, functional filler systems, minerals, industrial gases, electronics materials, and most recently packaging materials.

    Sean has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College. He is passionate about developing new business and connecting the needs of the market with new materials technology through complete supply chain solutions.

    Mr. Kobayashi assumed the role of General Manager of Corporate Planning at Mitsui Plastics in 2023 and currently oversees Corporate Planning, working closely with our officers and general managers.  Mr. Kobayashi brings many years of diverse experience to Mitsui Plastics focusing on business development, internal controls and the pursuit of higher business operational efficiencies.

    Mr. Kobayashi has worked for Mitsui since 1995, holding a variety of roles throughout various offices including General Manager of the Chemical Dept at Mitsui Mexico City office, as well as General Manager of the Mitsui Plastics Functional Materials Group in Houston, Texas from 2011-2014.

    Mr. Kobayashi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy Engineering from the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (Public College, Mexico City) as well as completing technical training thru JICA in Japan related to Agriculture.

    Brian Yoo is currently the General Manager of the Functional Materials business division, where he manages the day-to-day business operations and overlooks the overall strategies and policies for the future growth of the business group.

    Brian’s career with Mitsui began in early 2012 at Mitsui Plastics, where he managed a variety of Polymer Additives and Inorganic Chemicals for the global market.  Under the Functional Materials banner, he has managed a wide variety of products, ranging from – specialty engineered resins, modifiers, polymer additives, functional fillers & minerals, flame-retardants, polymer catalysts, custom compounds/Masterbatch, and more.  And has been involved in various industries and end markets – automotive, construction, appliances, wire & cable, electronics, shoes/apparel, flexible & rigid (food) packaging, and more.

    Brian holds a Masters in Business Administration from New York University (NYU) Stern school of business, and a B.S. in Business Administration & International Business from University of North Carolina – Charlotte.

    Mr. Daisuke Moriya began his career with Mitsui in 1999 and has had various experiences of increasing responsibilities including the domain of Electronics Materials (such as Semiconductors, Lithium Ion Batteries, Printed Circuit Board, and Photovoltaic panels related businesses) within Chemical Segment, and also a secondment experience to Mitsui Italy and Mitsui Plastics Trading Shanghai/China.
